All of this is compounded when you see that Furies are a thing. Aside from that, WoC probably have the best offensive power out of any of the Warhammer armies.
It allows every Chaos model with a Command Ability on the entire table to use theirs. Each has what is basically a Chaos Knight’s horse bolted to it and in addition fights with a big weapon. And then the entire fucking unit gets Regeneration, because fuck you. The Battalion box is really meh Hellcanmon you can make decent pts starter army out of the battalion and a hero of your choice!
Its deadliest weapon is its Warpfire Blast, which can inflict Mortal Wounds to a targeted unit, which can possibly inflict even MORE wounds if it killed models.
Plague Wind forces toughness tests on its victims and inflicts armour-ignoring wounds on those that fail. Subtract 1 from casting and unbinding rolls for enemy Wizards while they are within 6″ of any units of Chaos Familiars.
Lick up tears as you pluck away Invocations from his supporting necromancers. D6 mortal wounds can get slapped on in advance and then charge it rulrs to finish it off if it’s still moving. You’re very easy to trip up on terrain, model heavy armies tend to be hard to maneuver, you can wind up double charged, or charging against more units than you intended, etc.
You can also use it to ping off that final wound from an evasive flying bastard. They may have the best stat-lines for infantry and characters in the game, but they can be overwhelmed if their upgrades lead them to heellcannon highly outnumbered.
Awkward to use and unlikely to affect many models, this is a rather flimsy signature spell. He’s bad in melee.

Age of Sigmar/Tactics/Chaos
Nurgle spells work well with WoC, favouring a short ranged approach. However, do not think that the Norsemen are simple to play. So just have one or two of them tag along with your important casters. High toughness, high strength, high weapon skill. A unit of 5 held off a 50 strong horde of skellies with rulfs using their shield combo for 3 rounds without taking a single wound, however, infantry worth a damn lizardmen saurus bearded midgets,empire great swords ect.
Even Nurgle avoids them like the plague.
