Either way, the un-comfy storyline is one that will stay with me for a while, which I always consider to be a good thing, and I’m very curious as to how the movie will compare the sex scenes probably much more lascivious than what amount to mere insinuations in the book. I read it as sortof a corrective to the old, boring story about old men fucking younger women.

The symmetry motif provides a solid structure to the narration and I like the main theme of the novel: But what she doesn’t see is the massive emotional storm that is building, though she senses it when Tom’s wife, Mary, joins the zdore.

The transitions weren’t the best, but nothing too horrible. I was expecting the book to be like this too, doros cinema just has an easier time with portraying this with sound and lighting. I liked reading it and it’s got things to say about female friendship and sortof the dangers of mothers in general. As a mother of a 13 year old boy and a 38 year old womanI am completely and totally against the self serving nature of these spoiled wdore women.
And that is why I absolutely love Doris Lessing. Two handsome men came first, not young, but only malice could call them middle-aged. This novella, while quite far from a masterpiece, clearly demonstrates the author’s potential: The Book of Lost and Found. I want him to see me as the ultimate woman.

It affects their own marriages, and we see a kind of repetition – the sons’ wives sense that there is a part of their husbands’ lives that will always remain out of reach and unknowable.
The decision by the two women to engage in what amounts to sexual abuse of boys they ldssing known and nurtured as their own since infancy, is taken so lightly it’s laughable.

The writing throughout this was so dull that I didn’t even get to know the characters beyond that they were sleeping with each other’s sons.

I read it as sortof a corrective to the old, boring story about The problem with female friends is that you always run the risk of your sons fucking them, Doris Lessing points out. Lil tearfully insists that she and Tom tried to stop, but could not keep away from each other. For a book that deals with such a taboo subject, it was surprisingly dull. Tom witnesses Roz coming out of Ian’s room. The words “artistry” and “mastery” sprawl across the cover. One expects Doris Lessing to be smarter than Philip Roth, and she is.
The story it’s labelled a novella, but it’s really a It’s funny how I so often end up unintentionally reading books with the same theme. I mean reallyit was all so predictable. Lessing does a wonderful job showing the emptiness felt by Mary and the anger felt by Ian, misplaced as it was. I should also mention this story has such a l a c k of diversity. Surely they were related? The concept for the story would have made for a powerfully emotional novel or at the least an How to write a great review.
They are, for all intents and purposes, one big happy family.
