I don’t know, I get why people are gaga for Borges but I felt like he was trying to pack as much knowledge into these stories as possible that the stories themselves became secondary matter.
For him the latter life was more real, for me reading about him has been one of the most vivid experiences of my life. Absurd, though interesting how the idea about the forking paths of time seems what I have previously pondered on my own. To me, this tone is perhaps the most striking aspect of the story. The Garden of Forking Paths is a masterpiece.
